Week 6: Film Noir

During the past two weeks, I was not in class due to family reasons so I continue writing my oral. On the lesson I came back, we watch the film The Maltese Falcon which is a film noire. The next task is film noire and we explore the terms and film techniques used in film noire. I was not here when the unit was first introduced but I do have some knowledge due to have done one last year. Here are the characteristics in a film noire from what I could remember: There are detectives, private detectives police officers, femme fatale Play with the light to create harsh shadows or soft shadows  Harsh shadows on a mysterious person Corruption, jealousy, money, love, betrayal    In the next lesson, we will continue watching the film.

24/07 In this lesson, we first went through the oral task and I took some notes down of important things to know. Oral task: - when include video in the oral, 30-40 seconds, it doesn't count the time (time limit only counts if you speak)  - Essay could focus on: three paragraphs example  - Physical attributes of beautiful princess and villain or side character  - The personality traits (Good and Bad) - Impact on society or audiences (media now) Or - Good traits  - Bad traits  - Middle  - Bibliography on paper  - Script hand on day - Music not necessarily but if too long put it   Male representation in media   Afterwards, we went through the activity and finish the questions for homework. Week 2

This week we continue looking at the representation of women in the media. We first watch a documentary called Miss Representation which is about women in American media. While watching the documentary, I have taken notes on things that I have learned and noticed. Term 3, Week 1

This term, we are going to look at the portrayal of women in the media. We discuss how the women in some media are misrepresented and represented well. Afterwards, we watched Disney's Sleeping Beauty and analysing it.  After watching the film, we were then asked to write down the characteristics of each character's such as stereotypes and things we liked about them. We need 10 words for Aurora and Prince Phillip and two other characters, 5 words each. Afterwards, the class came together for discussion and share our thoughts. New words from other classmates were added. Week 8: Filming and Editing

5/06 During class: During this lesson I edit the footages that I have so far. Also I found this really good special effect website from a tutorial so I will try to teach myself how to use special effect since it is the first time using special effects. I hope it will turn out fine.  Lunch: At lunch, the filming went well because everyone is focus so it went smoothly  There were no difficulty of technology or time so the filming went well as planned  So far, it is going well so far since I have few shots left  After school: During editing, while looking back at the shots filmed on that day, I did not like one of the shot where they push off each other since I could see they were smiling and it was not as I have imagined so I decide to cut it off from the trailer since it could not work out  Also, the voice-over for one of the dialogue was done and I liked it since it was perfect  6/06 During class: I showed my rough edit aga...

Week 6 and 7: Filming

The first rough edit is due this Friday. Due to time restrain, I'll just film the first bit of the trailer. Therefore, Tuesday's lesson and Wednesday afternoon is the only time I can film as on Thursday I have other commitments. However, I'll edit with the footage with what I have on Thursday afternoon. 22/05 During class: I colour coded the shot list based on locations so it is easier to know what I need to film in that location I then continuing finalising the script I will paste the colour coded shotlist soon Mr Andrews also told us during that lesson to add another shot in the trailer where the hero meets allies or friends, allowing the viewer to see a little bit of the hero's journey between the major plot points  23/05 During Class:  I decide to shoot the first vision shot.
