Week 6 and 7: Filming
The first rough edit is due this Friday. Due to time restrain, I'll just film the first bit of the trailer. Therefore, Tuesday's lesson and Wednesday afternoon is the only time I can film as on Thursday I have other commitments. However, I'll edit with the footage with what I have on Thursday afternoon.
22/05
During class:
- I colour coded the shot list based on locations so it is easier to know what I need to film in that location
- I then continuing finalising the script
- I will paste the colour coded shotlist soon
- Mr Andrews also told us during that lesson to add another shot in the trailer where the hero meets allies or friends, allowing the viewer to see a little bit of the hero's journey between the major plot points
23/05
During Class:
During Class:
- I decide to shoot the first vision shot. The filming went well even though I have to reshoot many times but I was satisfied by the way it is compose. Also, when I looked at the clip, the light was bright that create this dreamlike effect which fits perfect for the vision
- Then I'll underexpose for the actual event in editing
24/05
After school:
After school:
- On that day, I was meant to film the beginning shot but I only got two shots of the hooded girl as the main actress was ill on that day. Therefore, I postpone to Thursday lunch the rest of the shot
- Although, it went well as it was good because it is what I have wanted of the hooded girl even though there was noise in the background. However, I'll do voice-over to fix it
25/05
Lunch:
Lunch:
- Filming: I film the rescheduled shots that was needed
- It went well because I manage to film the required shots I needed
After school:
- Editing: Afterwards, I start to edit the footage that I have and I saw that the last two shots need to be redone because the actress did not look down and she needs to stay still for the last shot. I will reschedule that for later
- Also, I need to find a glitch transition or something like that for the transition into the vision which will be hard to find on final cut pro
26/05
During Class:
During Class:
- Our rough edits was due and we all watch the rough edit together
- This is the feedback for mine:
- The vision transition is too early and is too bright and it is washed out so I will change the transition
- So someone told me to shorten the beginning and make Morgan having the headache longer
- I will fix them in editing
Weekend:
- I decide to film some shots this weekend
- The shots that I wanted to film is Kayla's that was at home
- While filming, i wanted the character to wear specific colour to her clothes so Kayla wears purple and blue because it signifies wisdom and calmness
- After filming, I looked over the footages and I realise I will reshoot all of them next Saturday as it will be better with the girl who plays Morgan. At least, I got references for the filming next Saturday
Week 7
1/06
Since I have test block, I decide to film only on Friday afternoon so I can focus on studying. While I have free days, I contacted all the people I require to see if they are available in the days I set out. I have made some changes to my schedule after contacting those people. Therefore, I have made some changes this Friday as I meant to film shot 12, 18, 22 and 27-32 but one of the actress cannot make into the afternoon so I reschedule that to next week. Therefore on Friday, I only film one shot.
While rearranging the schedule, I have made changes also in the shot list. Here are the changes:
- Shot 12, 18, 22 and 27-32 is originally meant to film at school but I change the location to home because due to the clashes of dates
- The location of the vision scene is also change as I have a mind change after looking at the availability of the dates and thinking back to the possibility of shooting the shot. The original location meant to be the JR stairs that leads to the cafeteria but I've change to Science Lab stairs which is easier to film and there's less people there
Weekend:
Saturday:
Saturday:
- On that day, I film all the shots that I have required on that day
- At first when I film those shots, they were out of focus but after filming again, it was clear
- Overall, I was satisfied because I manage to get some scenes done
- Although, I have made some changes again in the shot list because some did not work out
- Here are the changes:
- Shot 21- Originally I wanted to change focus from Morgan to Kayla but it did not work out so I cross that idea out
- Shot 24- Originally I wanted to focus only in the eyes like in Western films but it did not turn out well so I instead did a low shot of her face which is better
- Shot 34- Originally there is a dolly forward but the lense makes the image out of focus so I did still instead
- Shot 39- Same reason as shot 34
Sunday:
- Today, I film shot the book in which will be use for shot 1 and 30
- Had to do some changes the lighting where it is white instead of orange because it will be neutral for editing
- I will add the colours in after effect
