Week 6: Film Noir

During the past two weeks, I was not in class due to family reasons so I continue writing my oral. On the lesson I came back, we watch the film The Maltese Falcon which is a film noire. The next task is film noire and we explore the terms and film techniques used in film noire. I was not here when the unit was first introduced but I do have some knowledge due to have done one last year. Here are the characteristics in a film noire from what I could remember:

  • There are detectives, private detectives police officers, femme fatale
  • Play with the light to create harsh shadows or soft shadows 
  • Harsh shadows on a mysterious person
  • Corruption, jealousy, money, love, betrayal   

In the next lesson, we will continue watching the film.
