Documentary Animation: Video Scribe and Power Toon
This term was a special term for animation. Our documentary required animation to produce some statistics. Therefore, we need to find animation software to satisfy our wants. There was two animation software I mentioned in my design which is VideoScribe and PowToon. In this post, I will reflect on my use of both software as I did try animate with both while I was editing the documentary.
VideoScribe
VideoScribe was an easy software to use since I have used it before for other school projects. Therefore, I knew how to get the animation such as moving the characters or write a text. Here are the things I have done so far with the program.

However, there were disadvantages that were associated with the program. It only allows me to use for seven days since it was a free trial. Furthermore, when I tried to export the animation, it has the trademark all over the animation since I need to buy a package to have the trademark off. This was sad because I was nearly finished with the animations so I can have one thing done since I have it done weeks before the due date. Therefore, I have to go to another animation program to let me freely export the animation.
(Maybe the animation will be posted)
PowToon
After playing around with VideoScribe, I have decided to shift to PowToon for the animation. Surprisingly, even I have used for the first time, it was easy to use and create an animation out of the program. The menu was not too complicated to manage around which was good.
After I have finished the one I wanted, I showed my animation to my partner and she was really happy about it. To the point that she told me to create two more for her which I did not mind and was happy to help.
It was a really good program because we were able to export as a PowerPoint for me to screen record it without the trademark right on the drawings. Another advantage of the software is that it lets me access it as long as I want in one account (I thought I only have three days of free trial but that was not the case). Even though it would not let me get more drawings and export properly (which make sense since it is a free trial), I was still happy about the software because it was more dynamic with the characters moving, which better than VideoScribe.
Overall, I had no major problems with animation even though I haven't done it for 3 years. Adele and I were content with the animation that we were able to come up with and it flowed really well with the rest of the documentary which is good (Yay!).
If I have to recommend which animation to use in a short period of time, it will be PowToon. Easy to use, can access as many times as we want in one account. Even though we could not access more characters, we improvised and create good animation as the free ones were enough. For the documentary, this program is enough.
Here is our animation (In the final edit, we cut out some parts to try to go within the time limit):
