Week 6: Second Rough Edit due

Monday During class time, we hand in the second rough edit which has most of the footages. I was proud of the work we have so far as we have nearly all footages. The filming was better than the first time we filmed and we definitely improved the lighting for film noir. However, in terms of editing, there are some voice-overs that needs to be redo because some are way too low. Also, there are some music that does not fit the mood so we need to relook our music choices. But that's alright as we can do that during the next few days before our final edit is actually due. After school, we finish filming Fran's part for scene 3. Overall, I am happy that we finish filming. We  have encountered no problems so far which is good.

Week 5: Filming continues

Monday During this afternoon, we filmed the Boots inspecting crime scene. It was an interesting shoot because the bar light run out of battery so we had to rely on the LED light (which is not strong enough) and lowering down the exposure on the camera. Furthermore, we just realise that we could have a better location because there was a lot of passerby since there is an event not far from our place. So it took a lot of waiting and footages to get the right shot.  Otherwise, it was a successful shoot because the footages looks good.  Tuesday During class, we manage to film Dumpty in the office scene which was successful. There were no problems and the shots looks good. For this afternoon film, I could not attend to the shoot due to other commitments so Ella and Fran did Boots in the office scene. I've been told it was a successful shoot too as they have done as much as they can even though the scene was not complete yet. Wednesday We decide to take a day off...

Week 4: Filming continue

23/10 We re filmed Nick's interrogation scene again because Mr Andrews gave a feedback as the previous lighting was not as effective. This time, it was much better than before as we manage to create a shadow on the actor to show that he is the villain. Furthermore, is class, we went through the actual task sheet and were asked to do an editing list as to choose which footages to use for editing. Afterschool, we manage to finish scene 5 and 7. We were satisfy with the footages and happy that we finish filming two scene. Filming this lunchtime, went well and after school, film so went well. progress in lighting Also got through the task sheet with going through the list such as edit list 24/10 Decided to have this day off due to the group deciding to catch up with other works. 25/10 Today we hand in the rough edit to Mr Andrews and his gave his feedback: Framing: Most to them is in the middle and needs to have the subject place in the thirds Some scene, ...

Week 3: Filming

Monday This Monday was a public holiday so we decided to film the suspect board from scene 5 and 7 on that day in Ella's place. It was successful as we were organised and manage to have some footages with us. We encounter no problems which are a good start. We also decided to divide the editing into three scenes each: (Group shotlist paste) Prop List Editing: Sophie: Scene 1 Scene 2 Scene 8 Fran: Scene 3 Scene 6 Scene 9 Ella: Scene 4 Scene 5 Scene 7 Tuesday  During class, Mr Andrews asked us to show the footages we have from Monday's shoot. He said that the lights on the wall is not dramatic enough and is not film noir. Therefore, he proposes to film at the location in the classroom which fits more to the style of film noir.  So we decided to re-film all suspect board scene which it is moved to Friday. Afterwards, we filmed the interrogation scene of Nick. Throughout the filming, we were adjusting the lighting...

Week 2: The Downfall of Dumpty

Final Shot list After handing the whole copy of the treatment and shotlist, I went to my group and discuss our version of the story and shot list. We now have to combine the shotlist for the whole film so we decided to use highlighter to see what we like to use for the whole film. After few lessons passed, we took out some elements from each of our story to create a whole film. We kept and change some elements of the film and we wrote a short treatment for ourselves. After we settle our story, we then created a shot list for our film. We plan to film the following Monday which is a pupil free day for us. One lesson,  we went through lighting techniques used in film noir style films such as fill light, back light and top light. This would help us for our film.

Term 3: Week 1- The Downfall of Dumpty

During this week, I have most of my shotlist and treatment nearly done. Mr Andrews read over my shotlist for feedback. Feedback: Simplify the shot description Short the dialogue and voice-over Breakdown the action into two or more  Make sure that the shot description matches the action Afterwards, I continue working on the shotlist and treatment due to the final date being delay to next week.

Week 8, 9 and 10: Humpty Dumpty

Week 8 In the first lesson, we were sorted into groups of three. We then gather our ideas together and told our fairytale we have chosen. So far one of the person in the group got The Three Little Pigs and the other is Humpty Dumpy. I then told my ideas about the Crow and the Fox while the last member told a Korean folktale. In the second lesson, we need to choose one of our story that we would present to the group. I decided to do The Fox and The Crow because it has a simple storyline. I then further expand on my characters more. In the third lesson, we decide to do the Humpty Dumpty story and now we plan out our story. Mr Andrews came in to give us ideas for our story in order to avoid plot holes. These following change is: Change from gang/mafia storyline to financial corporate storyline So far we have establish a beginning and an ending and characters. Characters: Humpty Dumpy is the head or CEO of a financial company  Nick is a suspect and business partner t...
