Changes from the original plan

During the filming of the short film, I have encountered some difficulties that made me change some aspect of my film from the treatment. Shot 11: Bianca playing tennis to skipping rope  I originally had Bianca playing tennis in a profile shot but then the tennis court is booked for other activities and so decided to have her do skipping rope which is close to Anderson's style. Shot 13: Awards Originally, I had a plan where all the awards are shown through a pan but when I filmed, it did not work and so I instead did with a quick movement with the camera; because Anderson sometimes use it in his films. However, Mr Andrew's feedback made me change to a still shot of each picture as he suggests it. Shot 15: Mother drinking tea For this one, I just change locations because the classrooms where all booked and so I had to resort to outside. Shot 22: Basketball competition Originally, I want to do a zoom out and a dolly out at the same time. However, it did not work ou...

Year 12 Film, Television and New Media Auteur Style Production Reflection and Evaluation

Image
Please answer each question using complete sentences, including as much detail as possible to justify your responses. 1. Reflecting on your completed production task: Are you satisfied with the result?   And did it turn out as you had visualized it? Overall, I am satisfied with the result produced from my production and how it turned out. The whole short film turned out what I have visualized in my head and I am happy that it did match my auteur’s style; which was what the task was about. However, there are some parts I wish I would I have done better especially near the end of my film when those part did not technically match my vision. Nonetheless, I am still satisfied with my film and how it turned out.   Would you like to change or improve any aspects of your final film (storyline, shots, editing etc.)? There are some aspects of my final film that I would like to improve or change. Firstly, I would like to improve my shots for the second hal...

Rough Edit Feedback

Rough Edit 1 Shot 1 and 7 Use a wider lens to have everything in the shot  Quicker action because it was too long or slow  Get a second light to reflect or use a black or white or silver cloth/cardboard or put light source far apart  Twist the sugar and the tea  Rough Edit 2 I showed to Mr Andrews again and he said it was good so far. Rough Edit 3 I met up with Mr Andrews to look at my rough edit again and here is the feedback he gave me: Shorten the first clip Play around the two doing in split screen activities  Shot of awards- to still shots instead of moving  Scrolling down the letter, close up  Overhead shot of battleship  Running- tying shoes more Wes  Mum symmetry going  MVI 5430- next time if I reshoot have the characters dead centre and shot of mum in the middle of door symmetry and girls looking up in shock seeing mum leaving  MVI 5441- right in the symmetry and low tripod and looking at the ...

Film Schedule

Image
I have changed so many times in the schedule because there are many obstacles that I have encountered. This term was a hectic term for me and so filming was overwhelming at times. However, in the end, I manage to come out. Here is the simplified schedule for the last few days before it is due because Mr Andrews wanted us to create a schedule for those last few days.

Film Day 17

Image
Day 17 This is the last day of filming (Yay!). I just quickly film the filler shots again and I am happy with the result. I finally finish filming which is awesome and now I just need to edit the film before test block.  Voice-over and music have already been chosen too, so I am really happy with my progress I have made.

Film Day 15 and 16

Image
Day 15 This day, I finally reshoot the flashback scene and I was really happy to finally finish this one. When looking back to the footages, I realise how overexposed the background is but I left there because it creates this feeling that it was in the past. Overall, I am content with this one. Day 16 This day, I just film the filler shots that Mr Andrews told me to do. It was good.

Film Day 14

Image
Day 14 This day, I just film filler shots and redone the shaking hands because the previous one so underexposed. Nothing more needs to be said. It was a quick filming and I am happy.

Film Day 12 and 13

Image
Day 12  I had a terrible time that first day because I wanted to use my gimble but it did not work out due to that it did not calibre properly. So, I improvise and instead did a whimsical whip to the right which still matches Wes' style. Furthermore, I have forgotten the plates for the tripod and so I have to use my hands which was difficult but it did not look too bad. This taught me a lesson to always prepare equipment in time before filming. This day was not my day at all and I am disappointed in myself for not being so prepared. Despite the negativity I have faced, I still am satisfied with my shot. Day 13 On that day, it went really well compared to the previous day because the filming was good as I produced good shots. However, one of the actresses was running late and so we had to start filming later than usual which I had to rush at the end. Nonetheless, it was a good filming day. I feel I have to reshoot this...
