Film Day 11

Image
Day 11 Shot 15 and 16 I was going to redo the scene of the daughters trying to grab the attention of the mother but the actress for the mother was not available and so I just did the envelope shot again because the original one had the envelope was not properly strengthened. Thus, I redo it. It was a quick filming and easy and so I was happy that day. Note from the notebook:

Film Day 10

Image
Day 10  Shot 8  At lunchtime, I just film the poker shot which is my favourite shot for the entire short film. Thanks to the help from my friends, I manage to produce an excellent shot with good use of lighting. Overall, I am content with this shot. Notes from notebook:

Filming Day 9

Image
Day 9 Shot 1 and 7 I was originally going to refilm those two shots after I received feedback from Mr Andrews about the harsh shadows and the framing. Unfortunately, I did not manage to do it due to there were unexpected commitments I had to attend.  Shot 14, 22, 24, 26, 28 and 9, 11, 12 Fortunately, I have managed to film those ones though which is good. This time, when I refilm this shot, I have decided to move my actress in the right because I decided to use a line from the bed to split Overall, I felt content of the footages I've produced which is good. When reflecting back to the filming I have done most of the ones I wanted to do but I feel I should film more to be ahead.

Filming Day 8

Day 8 Shot 12, 23, 27 Reflection Filming when really well for those three shots and I have no difficulty faced.  After watching the edits on my laptop, I was satisfied with the results I have produced.  Future Plans Notes from the notebook

Filming Day 7

Image
Day 7 Shot 15-20  This day I have filmed the flashback of the sisters and the mother. During the filming with the mother and children scene, I had a difficult time to do a tracking shot that I originally planned without much shaking. Thus I opt for a more stable and quick pan shot to the sisters instead. Afterwards, when it was with just the two sisters signing the contract, the only thing that took a while was having the table right in the symmetry and having the line of the board in the middle. Other than that, it was pretty good filming. However, after watching the edit, I realise that when the sisters came to the mother, I forgot to have them saying a line which eventually waster our time. Furthermore, they did not have their purple journals with them which is bad because it is crucial for the plot. I need to refilm.

Filming Day 6

Image
Weekend All of Beatrice's parts film at my place  I was going to film all of Beatrice's part for the weekend but I did not have the chess yet and there were other factors too. Thus, Beatrice preparing for her day is the only shot I have done sadly. Reflection: Looking back into the shot, I see strong shadows on the floor. However, with editing, I will slip the screen up for Bianca's part so I will see how it would look like. Note from notebook:

Filming Day 5

Image
Day 5 Shot 12  Today's filming was really interesting because I originally wanted to film shot 12 (Bianca's part) which is the ping pong scene, however, the location I wanted to use it was booked for an event. Therefore, not wanting to waste precious filming time, I improvised and did a backing shot where instead of ping pong, Bianca does yoga. This shot will be used for now as back up and when I actually filmed the ping pong shot, I will replace it. Reflection:  Looking back to the shot, I think it is overexposed the background even though the actress is fine. Also, her arm is out of the frame. However, this is just a backup.

Filming Day 3 and 4

Image
Day 3 On that day, I film shot 12 which is where Beatrice is competing in spelling bee contest. Shot 12 Lens: Canon 24-105 Lens: Sigma 10-20  Lens: Sigma 10-20  Lens: Canon 24-105 During the filming of this scene, I have tested out with two different lenses to see which one looks good. In my opinion, the second image is the one I like the most, meaning that the lens Sigma 10-20 is the lens I would use for a medium shot of the characters since the image matches Anderson's style more. Furthermore, it was difficult to get rid of the light in the corner of the frames. The filming went ok but after looking back at the shots after filming, I realise that they are really noisy due to the lack of more lighting. I feel that I need to reshoot with a better location than a classroom whiteboard. I will look into that later. Thus, the lesson I took from that filming day: wider shot is better than the lens, get more lights too Day 4 I film the firs...

Filming Day 1 and 2

Image
Day 1 On that day, I decided to just practise filming with a friend to copy Wes' style by just frame the shot and playing with the light. This helps me to see how it will look like. Overall, I am happy with the results and decided to record the lights I want to use. Overall, I am happy with the time that I have used which were helpful. Some practise shot Day 2 During the weekend, I have just decided to practise Wes' movements to see how it will flow. Mr Andrews recommended me to do the zoom and dolly at the same time which I have practised on. It was difficult at first but then I hang on to it. I will put that into practice when I will start filming. Notes I have written in my notebook: Schedule Note: For the 11th of August, I decided not to do the shot for the evening because I was not able to do during that time. Furthermore, I have to go to an open day the next day and so I want to sleep early for that day. Thus, I moved those shots the next ...
