Then we were asked to write down 6 points we want to focus in the documentary.
6 focus point focus on documentary
- Too much knowledge about the user's private life can lead to cybercrime
- That would also lead to cyberbullying
- People create fake profiles in which hides their true self
- This would lead them to rely on the comments for self-esteem- social life dictates their life
- This would isolate people from the outside world- causes issues with relationships
- Low chance in the workforce
- Terrorism/ propaganda/ fake news
6/02
We were formed into groups and start brainstorming for the documentary. We looked at each other focus points to see if there was any that we were interested. We then decided the points we want to focus.
- The creation of narcissism and vanity
- The addiction to social media and compare to that of a drug addict for instance
- Change in self-esteem because teenagers rely on comments and feedback too much
- Cyberbullying
Then we chose for our overall topic for the documentary, we decide to explore the negative psychological effect social media has on teenagers.
Ideas for the documentary:

Topic: Social Media
Point of View: Negative
Style of documentary: Expository/Participatory/Observational
Ideology: Exploring the negative psychological effect social media has on teenagers.
Purpose: To inform/educate and persuade
Target Audience: teenagers to mid-twenties
Introduction:
- Introduce social media in today’s context
- What is social media?
- The rise of social media and the social media today
- Talk briefly about the positivity of social media then go to the negatives
- Tell the main point of the documentary (which is our ideology)
- Tell the four points- comes into
Example: However, social media can create negative psychological effect teenagers such as the rise
cyberbullying and its effects
Link: As teenagers become more addict, they'll affect their relationship and life in which could affect their
self-esteem
As seen in the planning, we agreed and decided to change from cyberbullying to aftermath because we saw that cyberbullying would not fit into the documentary due to the other topics. Therefore, we decide to do the aftermath because it would tie up the whole documentary.
Therefore, we need to finish researching and start writing the script to have an overview and help for our treatment in the coming week.
Point 1: Narcissism and Vanity
People constantly needs attention and wants to be loved/obsess showing their best lives
loves looking at the mirror
Link: The more obsessed they are about themselves, the more they get addicted to it like a drug.
Point 2: Addiction
Differences and similarities between social media addicts and drug addicts (Compare them)
- Have interview with Gabby’s mother about the drug addict
- Ask some students about if their phone 1% or taking away
Link: As teenagers become more addict, they'll affect their relationship and life in which could affect their
self-esteem
Point 3: Self-esteem
Teenager’s self-esteem relies on the comments from people on social media while the other non-addicted
teenager’s self-esteemm lowers due to the ego from other people on social media
teenager’s self-esteemm lowers due to the ego from other people on social media
- Addict teenagers
- Non-addict teenagers
Interview with a psycologist
Link: As the result of the conflict within the youth from social media, catastrophe results would occur
Point 4: The result of the whole ordeal or the aftermath of everything/Consequences of the negative effect
of social media OR The consequences of the rise of negativity in social media
