Week 5: Production

Image
15/05 On this day, the treatment and storyboard was due. Storyboard: Treatment:  After handing the treatment and storyboard, we could start doing the shot list in order to start filming the trailer.  16/05 The production task have been released and I broke it down. There is a rough edit due on the 26th of May therefore I need to finish the shortlist by the end of this week in order to film in next week. I also need to finalise the script so I can schedule when do I need to record the voice over. 17/05 In that lesson, we were taught how to use light properly to produce a image that looks like nighttime. With the LED Bar light and LED Barn Door light, we were taught how to avoid hotspots on the subject and soften the shadows. This apply also outside in the daytime. I might use that technique for my trailer. Then I start thinking about filming  parts that do not need dialogue in the following week since the time will be short until t...

Week 3 and 4: Brainstorm and Design Task

Week 3 3/05/17 On that day, I have gotten an idea for the trailer. My idea was about a girl with prophetic dreams/visions power. There are two types of vision she receives, one where the future can be averted while the second is the future cannot be averted. From there on, I have research and brainstorm to expand my idea. While we brainstorm, we were told that the trailer must show: The primary elements of the Hero's Journey Protagonist  Antagonist  Mentor/Goddess Oracle The hero must have or be in a journey For the rest of the week, I continue brainstorming my ideas while Mr Andrews broke down the task for us. Our first task is to come up a concept for a film in which will turns into a trailer. While researching, I came across a mythology that I became interested. It is called Walpurgisnacht, which is German for Walpurgis Night where on the eve of May Day, witches comes around to celebrate. I then decide to use that for my inspiration for my idea.  ...

24/04/17 In this lesson, we finish The Matrix and it which was really good. I've watch the film before but it was a long time ago so it was refreshing to see it again. I like the way they uses some film techniques that they thought about such as the Time Bullet and the overlay technique where one person moves in all different direction at the same time. After watching the film, we discuss about the hero's journey and how can we incorporate into out trailer. To convince our trailer is a hero's journey, we need to have an everyday character getting involve into a supernatural event or something never seen before while that character have special powers and the chosen one. Afterwards, we watched trailers from other students to give us an idea of how it would turn out. Also, we were given a task where we had to watch trailers and choose two to analyse them. Also they need to have some hero's journey elements because it is what we are doing this term. Guardians of ...
